In Adelaide, Australia, the final match of the WTA-500 tournament took place today. The 12th-ranked player in the world and the 2017 French Open champion from Latvia, Jelena Ostapenko, faced the 15th-ranked Daria Kasatkina.

The encounter lasted just 1 hour and 16 minutes, with Ostapenko securing a convincing victory of 6:3, 6:2.

Kasatkina served three aces, committed four double faults, and converted two out of seven break points. On the other hand, Ostapenko recorded three aces, two double faults, and capitalized on five break points out of nine.

For the 26-year-old Jelena Ostapenko, this title marks her seventh career WTA-level victory, including her triumph at the French Open.

On her way to the final, the Latvian athlete defeated Romania's Sorana Cirstea, France's Caroline Garcia, Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk, and Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Just three days later, on January 16, Ostapenko is set to play her first match at the Australian Open, where she will face the 117th-ranked player in the world, Australian Kimberley Birrell. The tournament itself commences tonight with the first three matches scheduled to begin at 1:00 Central European Time.
