On Tuesday, 12 May, Jannik Sinner’s Round of 16 clash against Andrea Pellegrino at the Rome Masters turned into a historic occasion.

Details: In just an hour and a half, the world No. 1 brushed aside his opponent 6-2, 6-3 to book his place in the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters. The victory extended Sinner’s winning streak at Masters-level events to 31 matches.

In doing so, he equalled Novak Djokovic for the longest winning streak in the history of tournaments in this category.

What is more, Sinner has now won 48 of his last 50 matches, while his current overall winning streak stands at 26 consecutive victories.

In the quarter-finals, Jannik Sinner will face the winner of the clash between Nikoloz Basilashvili and Andrey Rublev.

Reminder: American tennis player Taylor Fritz and his long-time partner Morgan Riddle are no longer together.
