Brighton reported that defender Jan Paul van Hecke was discharged from the hospital following an incident in the match against Brentford, which ended in a 4-2 defeat. Van Hecke required oxygen and a neck brace after a collision with Brentford midfielder Yunus Konak.

After the aerial duel, van Hecke attempted to get up, but medics quickly laid him down on the field. Konak left the field on his own, while van Hecke was taken to the hospital for examination. In the evening, Brighton confirmed that the defender was discharged and returning to the city.

After the match, Brighton coach Fabian Hurzeler said the team hopes for the player's speedy recovery. Brentford coach Thomas Frank added that Konak is fine, and they are closely monitoring van Hecke's condition with great concern.

Van Hecke returned to the lineup after a suspension, having played 35 matches this season, scoring one goal. Van Hecke's injury was another blow for Brighton, who haven't won in six consecutive matches.

After conceding a goal in the 9th minute, Brighton equalized through Danny Welbeck's effort in added time of the first half, but in the second half Mbeumo, Wissa, and Norgaard scored three more goals. Brighton replied only with a goal from Mitoma, while Joao Pedro was sent off for aggression.

Coach Hurzeler acknowledged the team's issues, noting that he is responsible and must find solutions to improve the game.
