Iwobi Set for 90th Super Eagles Cap Against Gabon

Fulham’s Alex Iwobi is close to making his 90th appearance for Nigeria as the Super Eagles face Gabon in Thursday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff in Rabat. The 29-year-old is expected to start under coach Eric Chelle.

Iwobi, who played for England’s youth teams before switching to Nigeria in 2015, made his debut that year in a friendly against DR Congo. Since then, the former Arsenal player has been a vital part of the squad, starring at the 2018 World Cup, the 2019 AFCON where Nigeria finished third, and the 2023 AFCON where they finished runners-up.
