Iwobi Backs Fulham’s Home Strength After Hard-Fought Win

Alex Iwobi has praised Fulham’s determination after their 1-0 home win against Sunderland, insisting the team remains confident despite their early-season struggles away from home. The Super Eagles midfielder, who recently earned his 91st Nigeria cap, played alongside teammates Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze, with the latter coming off the bench to set up Raul Jimenez’s decisive goal.

Fulham have now won all four of their league victories at Craven Cottage, and Iwobi stressed the importance of protecting their home form. “Our home form has been really good,” he said, noting that Sunderland were “a tough side” but Fulham “have the belief that we can perform against anyone.”

Iwobi admitted the team missed several chances, saying, “It was almost one of those where you wonder if it will ever go on,” but he credited the squad for staying focused: “Credit to the lads, we kept on believing and thank god one of them went in.”

He added that Fulham “don’t fear anyone in the league” and highlighted the need for consistency. Iwobi explained that the team had worked on different ways to break Sunderland down and emphasised the importance of keeping clean sheets, saying they will “always create chances to score.”

Fulham sit 14th in the Premier League with 14 points from 12 matches.
