Ivory Coast to Compete in Prestigious Canadian Shield Tournament
The Ivory Coast national football team is set to participate in an exciting four-team tournament during the June international break. The Elephants, under head coach Emerse Faé, will compete in the Canadian Shield alongside hosts Canada, New Zealand, and Ukraine.
Official Confirmation from FIF President
Idriss Diallo, the president of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), affirmed the team's involvement and emphasized the tournament's importance in their 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations.
“I confirm the participation of the Ivory Coast national team, the reigning African champions, in the Toronto tournament. It will be a great opportunity for the Elephants to compete against teams from different continents. We are particularly eager to face Canada on their home soil in the magnificent city of Toronto. I wish all the teams an excellent tournament,” Diallo stated.
Tournament Format and Match Schedule
The Canadian Shield will follow a double round-robin format, with two matches played per day. A champion will be crowned at the end of the competition.
Ivory Coast’s Fixtures (Local Canadian Time):
- June 7: Ivory Coast vs. New Zealand – 7:00 PM
- June 10: Canada vs. Ivory Coast – 8:30 PM
