The Young Elephants secured their qualification by reaching the final of the WAFU-B U17 tournament, currently being held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, following their 1–0 victory over Ghana in the semi-final.

The match between the two sides was a hard-fought battle. With the outcome in the balance for much of the game, the two teams were locked in an intense duel, with the suspense lasting well into the second half.

With qualification hanging in the balance, Bamba Alex finally made the difference. The Ivorian centre-back found the back of the net in the 76th minute, scoring the only goal of the match and securing a vital victory for his team.

Thanks to this victory, Ivory Coast have qualified for the final of the WAFU-B U17 tournament and, in doing so, have secured their place at the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Young Elephants can now prepare with confidence for the WAFU-B final, aiming to crown their campaign with victory in Ouagadougou.
