“Ivory Coast is a nation built to win trophies,” said Hervé Renard during his presentation as the new head coach

The French tactician was officially presented on Thursday 6 August as the new head coach of the Elephants.

Hervé Renard has officially returned to lead the coaching staff of the Ivorian national team. The 57-year-old French coach took up his post this 6 August during a press conference.

Hervé Renard explained that his return to Africa was a carefully considered decision and that the opportunity to manage Ivory Coast once again was a source of immense pride.

“I had decided several months ago to return to Africa. Returning to manage Ivory Coast is an immense honour.”

The 57-year-old manager highlighted the challenges that lie ahead with the Elephants. In particular, he referred to the next two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

“We have major objectives ahead of us and a huge amount of work to do ahead of the next two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. The expectations of Ivorian supporters are immense, as always. Ivory Coast is a nation built to win trophies. We must set high standards for ourselves every day in order to achieve the best possible results.”
