Ivory Coast in pole position to host the 2026 Trophée des Champions
Following the Coupe de la Ligue final, Abidjan could host another major French football event.
Ivory Coast is the favourite to host this fixture, according to L'Equipe. This clash between the French Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France champions is therefore set to take place in Ivory Coast between 15 and 16 August.
Ivory Coast and the Democratic Republic of Congo are the two African countries in the running to host this match. However, Abidjan appears to be in a stronger position to host the Trophée des Champions. The French delegation, which visited the Ivorian capital a few weeks ago, is said to have been impressed by the Ivorian facilities.
Furthermore, Ivory Coast successfully hosted the Coupe de la Ligue final between Paris Saint-Germain and OL Lyonnes last March. However, the host country will be decided on Wednesday by the board of directors of the Professional Football League.
