Ivory Coast defeated Guinea-Bissau in the opening match of AFCON 2023

Ivory Coast faced Guinea-Bissau in the opening match of the African Cup of Nations 2023.

The tournament hosts confidently started the match, opening the score in the 4th minute. Seko Fofana responded to his teammate's pass and accurately sent the ball into the corner of the net, scoring the first goal of the tournament. The Ivorians controlled the course of the game and could have doubled the lead before halftime, but Jean-Philippe Krasso's shot lacked precision. However, in the second half, the Red Star forward capitalized on his opportunity. Krasso was the first to reach the rebound, essentially settling the matter of the match winner. In the remaining time, neither team managed to change the score on the scoreboard. Thus, Ivory Coast starts the African Cup at home with an easy victory.
