The Central Referees’ Committee has found him guilty of blackmail and attempted bribery.
Brou Eba Serges has been severely punished and will no longer referee matches in Ivory Coast. Investigations revealed that the Ivorian referee approached club presidents to ask them for sums of money in exchange for victories in matches.
When officials did not give in to his proposal, Brou Eba resorted to threatening to make their teams lose on the pitch. However, the Ivorian referee’s misconduct was exposed by the General Secretary of Real FC, a district-level club. He reported him to the Central Referees’ Committee, providing audio recordings as evidence. Found guilty, Brou Eba Serges has been banned from all sporting activities in Ivory Coast.
