Ivorian Ligue 1: ASEC Mimosas and AFAD draw 1–1
The defending champions of the Ivorian professional league are still without a win since the start of the season.
ASEC Mimosas are struggling to recapture the form they showed last season. Beaten by Yamoussoukro FC in the opening match of the 2026–2027 season, the Abidjan-based club then drew with Stella Club on the second matchday of Ligue 1.
But Julien Chevalier’s side could not do any better on Saturday 10 October at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium on the third matchday. Facing AFAD, it was no easy task for the home side.
It was an intense match, with the suspense lasting 77 minutes. It wasn’t until the 78th minute that the deadlock was broken.
Mohamed Touré broke the deadlock for AFAD, making it 1–0. Caught off guard, ASEC Mimosas found the means to equalise. Kevin Bakaré levelled the score in the 85th minute, making it 1–1.
The score remained unchanged until the final whistle. ASEC Mimosas have suffered one defeat and two draws in three matches so far this season. The reigning champions will have to wait a little longer for their first league win of the season.
