The new season of Brazil's Serie A kicked off, and on the night of Monday, March 31, Santos played away against Vasco.
Their star leader Neymar missed the match, which had a noticeable impact on the result. Although Santos opened the scoring in the 21st minute, the team couldn't build on their advantage.
Vasco equalized early in the second half through Moreira's efforts. And in the 78th minute, the hosts scored the winning goal. Santos, unable to cope without Neymar, lost in the first round and started the new season not too successfully.
In the next round, Santos will host Bahia at their home ground. The match is scheduled for Monday, April 7, at 1:30 CET.
