It’s Official: Zizo to Join Al Ahly for Club World Cup After Egypt Cup Final

Egyptian international Ahmed Sayed "Zizo" will officially be part of Al Ahly’s squad for the upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, but not from day one.
Legal Hurdle Delays Travel
Despite sealing a free transfer from rivals Zamalek, Zizo remains under contract until June 30. As a result, he cannot travel with Al Ahly’s delegation on June 4.
His current club, Zamalek, is due to face Pyramids FC in the Egypt Cup final on June 5, which Zizo is expected to feature in.
Joining Al Ahly on June 6
Zizo will link up with Al Ahly’s squad on June 6, just days before the Cairo giants begin their Club World Cup campaign. He will be eligible to participate in the competition, with Al Ahly already submitting his name in their official squad list.
Group A Challenge Awaits
Al Ahly has been drawn into Group A, where they will take on:
- Inter Miami (USA)
- Palmeiras (Brazil)
- FC Porto (Portugal)
Zizo’s delayed arrival won't stop him from representing his new club on the world stage—but not before one final act in Zamalek colors.
