"It's not the spirit of football." Gasperini furious after Atalanta's penalty against Club Brugge in Champions League match

Atalanta lost 1-2 to Club Brugge in the first leg of the Champions League play-off round for a spot in the Round of 16. The decisive goal came in added time after a questionable penalty.

Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini was extremely unhappy with the decision made by Turkish referee Umut Meler.

Quote. “Football is going in an unknown, strange direction. The players throw themselves in to steal, they all try to get a penalty. This is not the spirit of football. The rules are crazy” said Gasperini after the game.
