A few days after Tata Martino’s unexpected departure as Inter Miami’s head coach, the club has already found his replacement.
Details: According to César Luis Merlo, the new head coach of Inter Miami will be Javier Mascherano, a legend of Barcelona and Argentine football.
The two sides have agreed on a long-term contract, which is expected to be officially signed in the coming days.
To take up this role, Mascherano is stepping down as the head coach of Argentina’s U-20 national team. This will mark his first experience coaching at the club level.
Interestingly, during his playing career, Mascherano spent many years as a teammate of Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets, all of whom now play for Inter Miami.
Reminder: Reports previously suggested that Inter Miami was also considering Xavi for the head coach position, but the former Barcelona manager declined the offer.
