Italy's top club has withdrawn from the European Super League project
"Juventus" announced its decision to leave the project of the European Super League (ESL), as reported by Reuters.
According to the source, the club has already started discussions about it with Real Madrid and Barcelona.
"Following these discussions and given the differences in the interpretation of the terms of the Super League contract, Juventus confirms its intention to leave the project," one of Europe's most titled clubs said in a statement.
Juventus also emphasized that the club's exit will be final and will only take effect after Real Madrid and Barcelona agree.
Former Juventus president Andrea Agnelli, who stepped down in November, was one of the initiators of the creation of the ESL. He was handed a 16-month suspension on Monday over financial manipulation of player salaries.
Earlier, UEFA reacted harshly to the fact that the top clubs decided to create their own Super League bypassing the organization. It promised to punish all those involved in this, and the clubs threatened to be excluded from the European Cup.
