Italian football will have five teams in the upcoming UEFA Champions League season, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Despite no Italian team reaching the quarter-finals in the Champions League, with Napoli eliminated by Barcelona and Inter by Atletico, Italy will have more representatives in the next season's tournament. This is due to Italian clubs excelling in other competitions, with Roma and Atalanta set to compete in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals, and Fiorentina in the Conference League semi-finals.

As a result, Italy has decisively pulled ahead of third-placed England in the seasonal UEFA coefficient ranking. Starting from the 2024/25 season, two additional spots in the tournament will be allocated to countries occupying the top two positions in the coefficient ranking from the previous campaign. Currently, Italy leads the ranking with 19.285 points, followed by Germany with 17.642, England with 17.375, and Spain with 15.312.

Italy will remain no lower than second place, even if Roma, Atalanta, and Fiorentina are eliminated in the semi-finals of their respective tournaments.

It's worth noting that all semi-final matchups in the UEFA Europa League and Conference League have been determined.
