Italy defender Scalvini draws interest from Newcastle

Newcastle have returned to the Champions League after a season's absence, and the club has learned from the mistakes of the 2023/2024 campaign, aiming to overhaul and strengthen their squad to the fullest.
Details: According to The Times, the Magpies are considering signing Atalanta and Italy national team centre-back Giorgio Scalvini. The 22-year-old is viewed as a long-term replacement for the experienced Dan Burn and Fabian Schär. It is believed that Scalvini could make the move to Newcastle for £30 million.
Reminder: Newcastle are looking to inject fresh blood into the squad after three transfer windows without significant signings. In addition to Scalvini, they are also targeting defender Leonardo Balerdi from Marseille, goalkeeper James Trafford from Burnley, and midfielder Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.
Earlier, the Magpies lost out in the race for Brighton forward João Pedro, who made the switch to Chelsea.
