Italy clinches Davis Cup for the third consecutive time, even without Sinner
On November 23, the Davis Cup final saw Spain and Italy battle for the title of the world's strongest tennis nation. Notably, both squads were missing their marquee stars: Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner sat out the showdown after grueling seasons and did not feature in this decisive clash.
First, Matteo Berrettini powered past Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets, before Flavio Cobolli sealed Italy’s success, prevailing over Jaume Munar in a three-set thriller.
With this result, Italy has now captured the Davis Cup for the fourth time in its history. Even more impressive, this marks the Azzurri’s third consecutive triumph, following their victories in 2023 and 2024.
Italy now stands alone in seventh place for most Davis Cup titles. Ahead of them are Spain (6), Sweden (7), Great Britain (10), France (10), Australia (28), and the United States (32).
