"It was madness!" Golf star Rory McIlroy visits Borussia Dortmund's Yellow Wall
Golfer Rory McIlroy fulfilled a longtime dream by attending a Borussia Dortmund match and experiencing the iconic Yellow Wall firsthand. The DP World Tour's X account shared photos of McIlroy immersed in the electric atmosphere.
McIlroy had previously expressed his desire to witness a Dortmund home game to soak in the unparalleled energy of the Yellow Wall.
"It was great fun, something I've always wanted to do. I've heard so much about the yellow wall and it was cool to experience it. The atmosphere was everything I expected - 25,000 fans and me and a couple of mates were right in the middle of it," McIlroy said.
He described the experience as genuinely breathtaking and shared a surprising encounter with fans from Lurgan, his mother's hometown: "I said what the hell are you doing here, and they said they could ask me the same thing."
Rory McIlroy is a four-time Major champion and has held the world number one ranking for over 100 weeks. To date, he has claimed 40 tournament victories in his illustrious golfing career.
