“It was a month of absolute chaos.” Fernández reflects on his transfer to Chelsea

In the winter of 2023, Chelsea completed the signing of midfielder Enzo Fernández from Benfica, but the deal was anything but simple. He has now spoken about that turbulent transfer period.

Details: In an interview with Koora Break, Enzo admitted it was a month of real chaos and madness. Everything changed by the day, and until the very end it was unclear whether the transfer would go through.

Quote: “That's how it was until the end of the month, uh, so nothing, it ended up happening on the last day of the market, a very high-value transfer and well, I think it was as it was and I tried to obviously enjoy it in the last few weeks. If it happened, great, and if it didn't, in the end I was at a club like Benfica that gave me everything, but it was crazy. It finally happened”, Fernández said.

Fernández joined Chelsea on the final day of the winter transfer window, 31 January 2023, signing an eight-year contract. The transfer fee totalled €121 million.
