The UEFA Conference League playoff matches are set to begin soon, and clubs are finalizing their squads for the competition, including Chelsea.
Details: The London club was active in the transfer window, parting ways with several players, which left three open spots in the squad list. According to Matt Law of The Telegraph, these places have been filled by Cole Palmer, Trevoh Chalobah, and Mathis Amougou. Meanwhile, Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana have not been included in the squad for the Conference League playoffs.
Chelsea will not play in the preliminary playoff round of the Conference League, as they will enter the tournament at the round of 16 stage. The Blues will face the winner of the Copenhagen/Heidenheim matchup. The playoff matches are scheduled for February 13 and 20.
Notably, over the past two months, Palmer has created the most goal-scoring opportunities across the top five European leagues. However, none of these chances have been converted by his teammates.
Reminder: Recently, Cole Palmer admitted that his favorite goal celebration, which he wouldn’t mind replicating, is Mario Balotelli’s iconic "Why always me?" gesture.
