Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United, but for now the player remains with the Bees. The stumbling block between the clubs has now come to light.
Details: According to The Athletic journalist Laurie Whitwell, the issue is that Brentford wants to secure a fee similar to what Wolverhampton received for the transfer of Matheus Cunha. Still, the deal is not considered to be in jeopardy and has a strong chance of going through.
Quote: "The initial offer was £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons. But I think Brentford are looking for a sum more in line with what Manchester United paid for Cunha. They looked at that and thought: that's how much you pay for Cunha, and Mbeumo scores goals as well.
So right now we're at the stage where the clubs are deciding what the price will be. I think all parties believe the deal will happen, but I don't think it will be anytime soon. I don't see anything happening right now, but personally I believe that eventually the deal will get done," Whitwell said.
