The chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, Turki Al Al-Sheikh, is planning to organize a bout between the current WBC, WBA, and IBF titleholder Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) and interim WBC heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel (27-0, 19 KOs).
Details: According to insider Mike Coppinger, Al Al-Sheikh intends to negotiate with the Ukrainian champion for a title defense sanctioned by The Ring magazine against the undefeated German.
This major event is being targeted for Germany at the end of this year. However, official negotiations will only begin if the Ukrainian wins his upcoming fight: discussions about a bout with Kabayel will start only if Usyk defeats Rico Verhoeven in their match scheduled for May 23 in Giza, Egypt.
This fight could become one of the year's marquee events in the boxing world, merging the interests of Saudi investors and the European market.
Reminder: Francis Ngannou has named the winner of the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua megafight.
