Ismaila Sarr finishes as the top African goalscorer at the 2026 World Cup
The Senegalese international found the net more than any other African player during the tournament held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
No African team remains in the 2026 World Cup. Morocco, the continent’s last remaining representative, were knocked out by France in the quarter-finals on Thursday 9 July.
But before exiting the competition, several African players distinguished themselves with their goals. However, only one scored more goals than all the others: Senegal’s Ismaila Sarr.
The Lions of Teranga striker found the back of the net four times in four matches before Senegal were knocked out in the round of 32. No African player scored as many goals as Sarr during the tournament.
Morocco’s Isamila Saibiri and Congo’s Yoane Wissa each scored three goals.
