Is it different? Koeman has compared the cases of Bergwijn and Depay
Recently, the public was blown away by Dutch head coach Ronald Koeman's statement that his former Oranje team-mate Steven Bergwijn might forget about a call-up to the national team after moving to Saudi Arabia. Speculation was already building whether another big name player would lose his place in the national team.
But, Memphis Depay, who is preparing a move to Corinthians in Brazil, can be calm as Koeman has emphasised that if the forward is fit, he can expect a call-up to the national team:
‘I didn't like Bergwijn's move to Saudi Arabia, but the case of Memphis is completely different. The level of the Brazilian championship is completely different. So yes, Depay can still be part of the national team, but it all depends on whether he will be fit and fit for the level of the team,’ Koeman is quoted as saying by Fabrizio Romano.
