The new season of the National Football League kicks off on 6 September and the league's SMM has responded with a promo video. But this video became the subject of misunderstanding and ridicule on the web.

In the 30-second video, the editors inserted footage of famous singer Taylor Swift five times. She often appears at NFL games and is known to be a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, who are the reigning Super Bowl winners.

It was Swift's over-the-top presence in the video that fans didn't realise:

Also perplexing was the fact that the reigning MVP from last season, Lamar Jackson, appeared less frequently in the video than Swift:

As a reminder, the new NFL season will kick off with a match-up between reigning Super Bowl winner Kansas City and Baltimore. The regular season will last until 6 January, and the playoffs will start on 12 January.

The Super Bowl is scheduled for 9 February 2025 at the stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana.
