The Iranian national team has confirmed its participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but has put forward a series of demands to the tournament organizers.
According to Marca, Iranian representatives will meet with FIFA in the coming days to discuss the conditions for the team's stay at the tournament, which will take place in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
The controversy surrounding Iran's participation erupted after Canada previously denied entry to some Iranian delegates due to their ties with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is designated as a terrorist organization.
The Iranian federation stated that the team is ready to play at the World Cup, but only if a number of guarantees are met. Among the key demands are the unrestricted issuance of visas, respectful treatment of national symbols, and enhanced security measures for the delegation throughout the tournament.
It is reported that the Iranian side expects to receive security guarantees at airports, hotels, and training facilities.
