Intrigue builds as Čeferin announces creation of new UEFA tournament

Currently, three club competitions are being contested in European football. But apparently, that's not enough for UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, who has now teased the launch of a brand-new European cup.
Details: The head of European football's governing body kept most specifics under wraps, but did reveal that the new tournament will not increase the total number of matches—though it will make the sport even more exciting.
Quote: “We are still considering other ideas, but it's too early to make anything official. One thing is absolutely clear: we are not going to increase the number of matches. But something will be introduced that will make things even more interesting. It’s hard to talk about games that haven’t even started yet. But there’s no doubt that teams want to play them—especially the biggest clubs,” Čeferin said in an interview with Kicker.
Reminder: Earlier, the UEFA chief stated that he hasn’t heard any negative feedback about the new Champions League format, emphasizing that, just as UEFA had promised, the league stage brought tremendous intrigue and boosted the tournament’s ratings.
