The Autumn Conference of the International Ski Federation has decided to extend the suspension of Russian athletes.
Details: According to Expressen, Russian and Belarusian skiers will miss the 2024/25 season. Moreover, as Sweden's National Team General Manager Lars Öberg revealed, the possible return of Russian and Belarusian athletes wasn't even considered.
Quote: "There was no discussion. We were simply informed that the suspension of Russia and Belarus has been extended, and their teams won't be competing in FIS events this season," said Öberg.
Reminder: The 2026 Winter Olympics are expected to feature all the top stars of the National Hockey League. However, the question of Russia's participation remains unresolved.
Recently, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly mentioned in an interview that they are not looking that far ahead, as the situation remains highly dynamic.
