Internacional of Porto Alegre announced on Tuesday the signing of Paraguayan defender Alan Benítez, who has agreed to a pre-contract lasting until December 2026. According to reports by Gazeta Esportiva, the 31-year-old will officially join the squad on July 1 and bring valuable experience to the team’s right-back position.
Benítez is currently concluding his second stint at Cerro Porteño, one of Paraguay’s top clubs, where he returned in mid-2023. His development started in the youth ranks of Libertad, with additional spells at Rubio Ñu and Olimpia, two of Paraguay’s traditional powerhouses. Internationally, Benítez has gained experience with Benfica B in Portugal’s second division and spent time in Major League Soccer playing for Minnesota United.
This signing comes as Internacional looks to bolster its options on the right flank, addressing a position that needs both depth and veteran leadership as the Brazilian season enters its second half. Benítez’s official registration and availability will begin with the July transfer window.
Known for his attacking runs and solid defensive positioning, Benítez offers a versatile skill set. His experience across multiple leagues should allow him to integrate smoothly into Internacional’s tactical system. The club expects his arrival to help strengthen the squad’s competitiveness both domestically and in continental competitions during a demanding campaign.
