Inter Miami prepare to perform without Messi
Less than a year ago, world football legend Lionel Messi moved to American Inter Miami, but the club realise that the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner will not play forever and are preparing for his inevitable departure.
Messi's contract runs until the end of 2025, that is until the Argentine turns 38, but club manager Jorge Mas is confident that there will be stars in the Herons' camp even after the legendary striker's departure:
"We expect to have one or more global superstars in our squad in 2027 and beyond. We have become a beacon for the sport in the United States. I don't think the future has any limits," the US club manager told The Times.
Messi has played 11 games for Inter Miami in the current MLS campaign, in which he has scored as many goals and given nine assists.
