Inter Miami Makes Move for De Paul to Join Messi
Inter Miami has made a formal offer to Rodrigo De Paul in an effort to bring him to Major League Soccer and pair him once again with Lionel Messi. The Argentine midfielder is under contract with Atlético Madrid until June 2026 but is now seriously considering the proposal from the Florida-based club.
As reported by TyC Sports, De Paul is evaluating the offer and is expected to respond soon. However, his decision will come only after Messi confirms whether he will stay with the club beyond December, when his current deal expires. If De Paul agrees, Inter Miami would then begin negotiations with Atlético Madrid, a step they have yet to take.
Now 31, De Paul has made 187 appearances and scored 14 goals with Atlético since his 2021 arrival. He previously starred for Udinese, netting 34 goals in 184 matches, and had a brief stint with Valencia. Under Lionel Scaloni, he became a regular starter and a key figure within Argentina’s national team, known for his close relationship with Messi.
Inter Miami’s squad already includes several Argentine players, such as Oscar Ustari, Marcelo Weigandt, Tomás Avilés, Gonzalo Luján, Baltasar Rodríguez, Tadeo Allende, Rocco Ríos Novo and Federico Redondo, all led by head coach Javier Mascherano.
