There has been much talk recently that Inter defender Denzel Dumfries would sign a new contract with the Nerazzurri, but it is too early to tell.

David Ornstein reports that the Dutchman has postponed talks on an agreement, previously thought to be for four years, until the end of the transfer window.

The 28-year-old defender's current deal runs until the summer of 2025 and Inter are keen to extend his contract, but Dumfries himself is still targeting a move to another club, with a move to Manchester United looking particularly attractive.

It is believed that the Dutchman's move to Manchester can only happen if Aaron Wan-Bissaka refuses to move to West Ham. For now, the transfer is being blocked by the fact that the 26-year-old defender has yet to agree terms with the Hammers on the terms of his personal stay in London.

It was also previously thought that Manchester United and Inter could swap defenders, but so far the idea has only been floated at the level of the players' agents and not the clubs.
