Inter Milan is continuing its efforts to secure the signing of Porto's forward Mehdi Taremi as a free agent.

According to Football-Italia, representatives from Inter had a meeting with the Iranian footballer's agent to discuss the potential terms of a personal agreement. Taremi's contract with Porto is set to expire in the summer, and the striker has no intentions of extending it.

Reportedly, Taremi's transfer to Inter in January is currently unfeasible due to financial constraints and a lack of available slots in the squad for non-European Union players.

Taremi, who will celebrate his 32nd birthday in July, has scored six goals and provided four assists in 24 matches for Porto this season.

Inter currently holds the top spot in Serie A. Earlier in January, the Milan-based club officially announced the signing of versatile full-back, Tajon Buchanan from Club Brugge, making him the first Canadian in Serie A history.
