Inter began negotiations with their defender on a contract extension
Inter has initiated negotiations with their wing-back Denzel Dumfries regarding a new contract.
However, according to reports from La Gazzette dello Sport journalist Andrea Ramazzotti, the 27-year-old player's demands are considerably higher than the offer put forth by the Milanese club. It's likely that both parties will meet again before Christmas, as there is much work ahead in the negotiation process.
The "Nerazzurri" need to extend Dumfries' contract until the following summer, otherwise, he will be placed on the transfer market, given that his current agreement expires in 2025.
Dumfries has been with Inter since 2021, when he was acquired from PSV for €14.3 million. During his tenure with the Milanese club, he has participated in 110 matches, scoring nine goals and providing eighteen assists.
Earlier reports suggested interest from Manchester United and Chelsea in the Dutch defender, but Inter is keen on retaining him and wasn't inclined towards an offer of €50 million, despite Transfermarkt valuing the player at €28 million.
