Iniesta has once again talked about returning to Barcelona
Barcelona legend Andrés Iniesta hopes to return to Catalonia and play a role in the future. He won nine La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League titles with Barcelona.
From his debut in the first team in 2002 until he left the club in 2018, Andrés played 674 matches across all competitions. This places him fourth in the all-time appearance list for Barcelona, trailing only three of his former teammates, including Xavi Hernández.
Iniesta was asked about his thoughts on Xavi's departure from the club at the end of last season, as fans still have mixed opinions about his former midfield partner. He also shared his future plans after retiring from professional football, but did not specify if he would extend his contract with his current UAE club.
"Of course, I would love to return to Barcelona, but I don't know when that will happen. My next step after football is to pursue a coaching career, and we'll see how that goes," he said.
"It's about finding my place off the pitch. Maybe in two years, I'll have a clearer idea, but right now, I don't know."
Iniesta turned 40 in May, and if he remains with Emirates, he is expected to surpass 900 career matches by the end of 2024.
