The crisis surrounding FIFA president Gianni Infantino is escalating rapidly.

Details: Senior FIFA advisor Carlos Cordeiro has officially announced his resignation, voicing his strong disagreement with the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project, which aims to attract private investment into FIFA tournaments.

As reported by Ben Jacobs, Infantino has lost the support of one of his closest confidants. Cordeiro, the former president of the US Soccer Federation, publicly stated that he has no connection to the controversial initiative and is firmly opposed to it.

"As a senior advisor to the FIFA president, a former banker, and a lifelong football fan, I cannot stand by while FIFA considers selling a stake in the World Cup," Cordeiro declared.

He also delivered a scathing critique of the project itself, emphasizing:

"Let me be clear: I had nothing to do with this proposal and I am categorically against it. It's a bad deal for FIFA's member associations, a bad deal for football, and a bad deal for the long-term future of the sport."

The resignation of one of Infantino's key advisors marks another blow to his leadership. Previously, UEFA, CONCACAF, and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) had already voiced their opposition to FIFA's initiative, significantly increasing the pressure on world football's governing body.
