Inès Konan Named Woman of the Match After Brace Against Burkina Faso
Inès Konan has been named the TotalEnergies Woman of the Match after inspiring Côte d’Ivoire to a 4-1 victory over Burkina Faso in their WAFCON 2026 Group B opener.
Konan was instrumental in Côte d’Ivoire’s dominant first-half display, scoring twice in a quick nine-minute spell to put the Ivorians firmly in control.
Her first goal came in the 14th minute before she completed her brace nine minutes later, giving Côte d’Ivoire a commanding 3-0 lead before the break.
The forward’s clinical finishing helped set the tone for a comfortable victory, with Côte d’Ivoire eventually adding a fourth goal after the break.
Konan’s two-goal performance earned her the TotalEnergies Woman of the Match award as Côte d’Ivoire made a strong start to their WAFCON campaign.
Côte d’Ivoire will now turn attention to their next second group stage game against South Africa, a game that could seal their place in the knockout phase.
