Indiana or Lakers? The finals of the first NBA In-season Tournament will take place tonight
This year marks the inaugural NBA In-season Tournament. The tournament was officially announced on July 8th during the NBA Today show on ESPN. It follows a format similar to European club football tournaments and the WNBA Commissioner's Cup.
Teams battled throughout the NBA regular season, and the outcomes of their matches counted towards NBA In-season Tournament. The finalists were determined after all the games, with the Indiana Pacers and the Los Angeles Lakers emerging as contenders.
Previously, the Indiana Pacers overcame Boston in the quarterfinals (122-112) and secured victory against Milwaukee in the semifinals (128-119). On the other hand, the Lakers triumphed over Phoenix in the previous rounds (106-103) and then dominated New Orleans (133-89).
The match will take place tonight in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena, the same venue where the semifinals were held. The game is scheduled to start at 2:30 Central European Time.
It's worth noting that in their last ten meetings, both teams have won five times, with one of the Lakers' victories achieved in overtime.
This match promises to be highly intriguing, featuring a clash of generations on the court. The "King," LeBron James, will face off against the "Prince," Tyrese Haliburton.
Apart from the championship title for the NBA 2023 NBA In-season Tournament, each player from the winning team will receive $500,000.
