Independiente Takes Inter to FIFA Over Unpaid Bustos Transfer
Independiente has decided to approach FIFA to claim an outstanding debt with Inter de Porto Alegre, related to the transfer of Fabricio Bustos in February 2022. The Brazilian club owes $353,000 for unpaid installments from June 2024 and January 2025, plus 5% interest, adding another $17,000.
Although there is still a third installment of $225,000 due in January 2026, which is not yet overdue, the Rojo's management decided to take legal action due to their urgent need for funds to meet financial commitments generated by recent reinforcements, as reported by Olé.
On the other hand, Inter also failed to pay the training rights, calculated at $300,000, although this claim no longer belongs to Independiente, as it was transferred to River Plate as part of the negotiation for Franco Paredes.
With several installments to face, such as those from the transfers of Santiago Montiel (to Argentinos Juniors) and Felipe Loyola (to Huachipato), the Avellaneda club is pressing to collect what is owed.
If the debt is not settled, Inter risks a sanction from FIFA, which could include a ban on signing players in future transfer windows. The organization's regulations are clear in these cases and include sporting measures until the payment is made.
