Independiente Rivadavia and Estudiantes de Buenos Aires face off on Wednesday at 4:10 p.m. local time in San Luis, in a Copa Argentina Round of 32 clash that will decide who advances to play Platense in the next round. According to TyC Sports, both teams arrive with different trajectories but share the same objective: progressing in the national cup competition.

The Mendoza-based side, coached by Alfredo Berti, is riding a seven-match unbeaten streak, with three wins and four draws. Their latest result was a hard-fought 1-1 away draw against Banfield in the domestic Apertura, keeping them in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Estudiantes (BA), managed by Andrés Montenegro, recently bounced back after a run of three straight losses. Their victory over Estudiantes de Río Cuarto moved them to fifth place in their Primera Nacional group, just three points behind leaders Gimnasia de Mendoza. The Caseros outfit hasn’t beaten Independiente Rivadavia since October 2019.

Berti is expected to field a starting XI consisting of Centurión; Peinipil, Villalba, Studer, Souto; Fernández, Bottari, Amarfil, Sequeira; Retamar and Sebastián Villa. Montenegro’s lineup remains unconfirmed as of press time.

With a spot in the Round of 16 on the line, the match in La Punta promises a tense and competitive affair between two historic sides from Argentina’s lower divisions.
