Independiente eyes Pussetto and offers Angulo in trade talks with Pumas

Per TyC Sports, Independiente has opened negotiations to sign forward Ignacio Pussetto from Mexico's Pumas, and is willing to include Ecuadorian fullback Álvaro Angulo as part of a potential swap deal.
The Avellaneda side has been in contact with Pussetto’s camp for several days, viewing the 29-year-old as a key target for the upcoming transfer window. But bringing him back to Argentina won’t be easy. Pumas' new manager, Efraín Juárez, reportedly wants to keep him for the next season, and the player himself has shown no intention of leaving Liga MX, having turned down offers from Rosario Central and Huracán in recent months.
Still, a door may have opened: Pumas are interested in Angulo, a dynamic and productive defender who has quickly become a fan favorite at Independiente. The club sees a chance to leverage that interest to land Pussetto, while also securing a substantial transfer fee for Angulo, who is drawing attention from other South American teams as well.
Pussetto joined Pumas in mid-2024, after they paid $1.5 million to release him early from Huracán just before a derby against San Lorenzo. So far in 2025, he has played 36 matches, scoring nine goals and providing three assists — solid numbers that highlight his value as a potential reinforcement.
