Incredible record! Yamal surpasses Messi and writes his name into La Liga history

Barcelona defeated Atlético 2-1 in a match that brought Lamine Yamal another historic achievement. The 19-year-old winger became the first player in La Liga history to record 40 assists before turning 22.

Yamal reached the milestone at the age of 19 years and 118 days. The previous benchmark belonged to López Ufarte, who registered 40 assists at 22 years and 15 days. The list also includes Adrián Escudero, Seguí, Etxeberria and Lionel Messi. The Argentine reached the mark only at the age of 23 years and 158 days.

But Yamal's impressive numbers do not end there. He has already recorded 30 goal contributions this season: 17 goals and 13 assists. He became the first player from Europe's top leagues to reach that mark.

The match itself ended in victory for Barcelona. Fermín López scored both of the Catalan side's goals, with Yamal providing an assist for one of them. Giuliano Simeone scored for Atlético.
