In Detroit, USA, the annual NFL draft has concluded. The event, spanning three days, was attended by over 775,000 fans, marking an absolute record for the NFL.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan announced on Saturday at Mars Field in the park that Detroit had broken the record, stating:

"We've shown the world what Motor City is all about".

Later, the league published official statistics estimating the number of attendees.

Detroit surpassed the three-day attendance record of Music City, which stood at 600,000 people, set in 2019 when fans filled Broadway in Nashville.

The NFL did not charge fans for attending the event in Detroit, although it was expected that visitors and residents alike would bring an economic impact of over $160 million from packed hotels, bustling bars and restaurants, and retail stores in the city center.

It will take several years to gauge how effectively teams utilized this year's draft, but it's certain that Detroit went above and beyond to host this event splendidly. The city welcomed hundreds of thousands of spectators and seized the opportunity to showcase its new image to over 50 million fans.

At present, over twenty teams are in negotiations with the league regarding hosting future drafts. This event is particularly appealing to teams from cities with colder climates, as they are unlikely to host a Super Bowl game.
