Getafe defender Abdel Abqar found himself at the center of a headline-grabbing incident during the match against Atlético Madrid, receiving a straight red card for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The incident occurred in the 55th minute. Initially, the match referee Miguel Ángel Ortiz missed the episode, but after a prompt from VAR, he went to review the replay. The video clearly showed the Moroccan defender pinching Atlético striker Alexander Sørloth’s genitals, while the ball was nowhere near the players at that moment.
After the incident, Sørloth couldn’t hold back his emotions: the Norwegian forward grabbed the Getafe player and threw him to the ground. The referee showed the Atlético striker a yellow card for his reaction. As a result, Abqar was sent off with a straight red card, and the episode became one of the most talked-about moments of the match.
