Catalan club Barcelona has announced the number under which their young prodigy Lamine Yamal will play next season.
According to the club's press office, the 17-year-old winger will wear the number 19 jersey in the 2024/25 season.
This number holds significant historical value for Barcelona, as the legendary Lionel Messi began his career at the club wearing the same number.
Last season, Yamal played under the number 27 as he was on a youth contract. However, in July, he was officially registered with the first team, allowing the talented footballer to choose a new number.
Yamal recently became a European champion with the Spanish national team. The Barça winger also became the youngest player ever to participate in the final of a World Cup or European Championship.
