In Sweden, a stalker of cross-country skiing star Frida Karlsson is on trial after following her for 11 months
World champion cross-country skier from Sweden, Frida Karlsson, was stalked for 11 months by an unknown 65-year-old man. According to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, he has been arrested and is now on trial.
It was revealed that the man monitored her through social media, believing they were friends, and that she was communicating with him through her posts. He also collected 700 photos of her on his phone.
Furthermore, he sought to meet her outside the virtual world: in May 2024, he attended a running competition, during the summer he showed up at Karlsson's training, and in August, he even visited her home. In November, he also planned to follow her to Tenerife, where she was recovering from an injury.
Reports indicate that the man was apprehended while spying near Karlsson's house and was issued a restraining order. Yet, even after this, he continued to write and call Frida, and sent letters to her mother and manager. In total, he made 200 calls.
He explained his behavior, despite being ignored and blocked by the athlete, as persistence and unwillingness to give up. Sounds frightening!
There is currently no information on whether he will be punished for his actions.
