In 2019, he won the Stanley Cup. Another NHL club is now without a coach.

The St. Louis Blues have relieved head coach Craig Berube of his duties, as announced on the official NHL website. Drew Bannister has been appointed on an interim basis. Blues' General Manager Doug Armstrong stated that the search for a permanent head coach is underway, but no candidate has been identified yet, so Drew will fulfill the duties for now. He will debut in his new role in the NHL regular-season game against the Ottawa Senators. Before this, he coached the Springfield Thunderbirds for three seasons.

"I'm here to steer this team in the right direction. What happens after that, happens. I can't control that. I just have to come in here and make this team win at hockey, and that's the ultimate result for me," said interim head coach Drew Bannister.

St Louis currently has 27 points after 28 matches. Berube was fired after four consecutive defeats.

Berube was appointed as an assistant coach for the St. Louis Blues in June 2017. On November 19, 2018, the Blues fired head coach Mike Yeo and appointed Berube as the interim head coach until the end of the 2018/19 season. He led the team to win the Stanley Cup in the 2019 playoffs, marking the first championship in the franchise's history.

On June 24, 2019, the Blues removed the "interim" tag, officially naming Berube as the 26th head coach in the franchise's history with a three-year contract.
